Kindergarten Curriculum
The Happy Heart Kindergarten program provides instruction to students based on the State Aligned Standards of Learning, supplemented with various unique and detailed methods of instruction. Small class sizes provide the opportunity for individualized instruction and reinforcement of introduced topics.
Curriculum is as follows:
- Name writing (first and last name) in proper form
- Kid writing
- Concentration on letter recognition and phonics
- Rhymes
- Sight words and reading
- Literature
- Number review, 1-20, consecutive counting to 100
- Counting by 5's, 10's, and 20's
- Addition and subtraction
- Geometric shapes
- Time-telling and money differentiation
- Science, History, and Social Studies topics
- Art projects
Each class session provides opportunities for group and individualized play, including outdoor play, weather permitting.
